Hebrews 2:14-15

14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 

Questions

The rest of the readings are going to consider why Jesus came into the world. This reading is from Hebrews, showing that Jesus came into the world to die in order to destroy Satan’s power.

Why did Jesus have to become a man of ‘flesh and blood’?

What has Jesus’ death successful in accomplishing? Make a list of all the things that the reading talks about.

Does this reading make you grateful that God sent Jesus into the world?  

Pray:

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for sending Jesus into the world. Thank you that he has become a man of flesh and blood in order to die in our place. Thank you that his death frees us from the power of death! Help us during this Christmas to remember that Jesus came into the world to die on the cross.
