7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.
9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister[b] is still in the darkness. 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister[c] lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. 11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.
Question 1
Make a list of some of the Christians you know. How do you feel about each of them? What does this say about you?
Question 2
In what way are we joint to other Christians? (1 Corinthians 12:12)
Question 3
How does a person love someone? What can you do to love other Christians?
Loving other people isn’t always easy! We’re all different and we all want to do things our own way and do what pleases us. It’s comforting for Christians to know that the Holy Spirit has worked in their hearts, which means they can love other Christians. Sometimes this doesn’t happen automatically, and we need to constantly check our attitude towards others. When we fail, we have to turn to Jesus for forgiveness and strength to love.
Pray:
Thank you Father, that I have the Holy Spirit in my heart and thanks for giving me a new family. Help me love others and forgive me when I fail. I want to show your light in my life so that others are drawn to you. Please help me do this.
